How To Replace Shower Arm
How did this project turn out.
How to replace shower arm. If you don t have any plumbing tape handy create a waterproof seal with pipe joint compound. Removing a shower arm is typically very easy but after i tried simply untwisting the stuck shower arm from the wall it became obvious this had been in the wall for a good 40 years and was not going to be that easy. Repeat this process until no more leaks are found.
Install the new shower arm before you insert your new shower arm wrap the threaded end of the shower pipe with a few layers of plumbing tape don t worry the threads will still work to secure the shower arm. If you need to make a repair to a leaky shower arm or you simply want to make a change for cosmetic reasons you can probably make the repair or replacement by yourself. Clean any scale mold or mildew from around the shower head arm to make it easier to turn.
Step 4 pull the old shower arm from the wall. Now that you have finished with all the steps in the process you should have a brand new shower head with satisfying water pressure or a sleek new look. Again there should be no leaks.
Clamp your longest adjustable pipe wrench around the shower arm for best leverage. If you find a leak remove the shower head re tape the threads of the shower arm and re install the shower head. Unfortunately the shower of the shower was pointed upward making taking a shower with any shower head very very awkward.
