Shower After Vasectomy
We recommend bathing or showering at least 48 hours post op provided you pay close attention to cleaning and gently drying your genitals.
Shower after vasectomy. Afterwards keep the area of the incision clean and dry. You ll also likely be able to bathe or shower. You may shower 24 hours after your vasectomy.
This will help prevent infection to the operative area while the small hole made for your no scalpel procedure heals over. Be sure to dry your genital area thoroughly by gently patting it with a towel or using a blow dryer. Ejaculation may cause some discomfort in the groin and testicles until the tissues heal.
Allow the incision in your scrotum to heal faster and reduce the risk of infection by staying away from showers baths and any bodies of water in which you can submerge for at 2 3 days. Pain and swelling may get worse at first but for most people these symptoms should improve fairly quickly and clear up after about a week. No sex or ejaculations for one week.
Avoid bathing hot tubs swimming pools for a week until the small opening in the scrotum created during surgery is sealed. You can take a shower the evening after your vasectomy. Refrain from intercourse ejaculation for one week.
When your surgeon clears you to shower which may be the day after your vasectomy wash the area gently with soap and water. Lastly change into a clean pair of underwear at least once per day. Remember that while you can shower you should avoid bathing in a tub of water or swimming for five days.
