Shower Pump Airlock

Shower pump airlock. You can do this by turning off the electrical supply to the pump and then open the shower mixer and any other taps that are fed by the pump allow water out and then close them again. As soon as i turn up the temperature the pump cuts out or runs for a bit with a lot of clattering. This is where air has entered the pump and is now restricting the flow rate.
Airlocks in shower pumps should you suspect that there s an airlock in the pump which is impeding water flow you ll need to bleed the pump. I am not a qualified plumber just a frustrated consumer. To remove the air the pump will need bleeding.
I have taken the shower head off and it s fine running cold. Switch off the pump s electrical supply and turn on the shower mixer and other taps that the pump feeds to empty the water and then switch them off again. Another common problem with shower pumps is airlocks which can restrict the flow.

When a shower or any other similar set up gets an airlock this is normally due to the pipework going up into the attic and then feeding down with no vent. However a simple air test can clear out your installation and solve the issue at no extra cost. To solve this issue the pump will need bleeding.
In most case when there is a problem with a shower this is due to a poor installation. Shower pumps air can build up in a pump installation over time and when not used regularly. The pump kicks in and runs like normal.
